In season 3, we saw a lot of new development and got answers to some old, burning questions. However, as much as things got resolved, they also got stickier, with new mysteries appearing on the horizon.

When Does Outer Banks 4 Come Out?
So, when is Outer Banks season 4 coming out? If we had it our way, season 4 would already be in production. However, it seems like fans will have to be patient for at least another year to learn what happens next.
Even though Netflix said details about the OBX season 4 release date would come out at a later date, we already have some leaked info. It’s reported that filming should begin on May 30th of this year and should wrap around mid-December. At that time, the OBX cast and crew will be in North Carolina.
Once filming is done, the show will go into post-production, so we’re looking at a possible release date in the summer of 2024.
According to this info, the wait between OBX seasons 3 and 4 will be about a year and a half, which isn’t all that bad when you take everything into consideration.
Other hit Netflix shows, like Stranger Things, for example, got fans waiting between seasons 3 and 4 for 3 years! Knowing this, a year and a half doesn’t seem bad at all!
What to Expect in Outer Banks Season 4?

The end of season 3 brought us extreme excitement but also some heavy loss. We weren’t expecting to lose Big John so soon! However, the cliffhanger we ended on showed our heroes in a somewhat happy place, with a new mystery brewing.
It became clear that this new mystery will be focusing on the iconic story of Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard.
If you don’t know who Blackbeard is, all you really need to get is that he was one of the most feared pirates that have ever sailed the Caribbean! There are a lot of crazy myths connected to this guy, especially when the treasure is in question, which is what our heroes will be dealing with in season 4!
However, showrunners have emphasized that even though Blackbeard will be the focus of season 4, we won’t get a classic Blackbeard story. In true OBX fashion, you can expect unique twists and a novel take on the legend!

One popular fan theory thinks that the entirety of OBX season 4 will be one big flashback. This, of course, alludes to the 18-month time jump we saw at the end of season 3, so the theory states we’ll be seeing what happened between then and now.
Another theory revolves around Mr. Sunn and his small yet suspiciously important role in the Pogues’ lives. He just knows too much, okay? Fans believe that Mr. Sunn is actually related to Denmark Tanny and knows a whole lot more than we think, which will be revealed and explored in season 4.

Who is in and Who is Out in OBX Season 4?
We’re happy to say that our showrunners, Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, are all still on board for season 4. In addition, a lot of the old crew is also coming back, meaning we’ll be seeing the same consistency and style in season 4!
As for the Outer Banks cast, there are some obvious changes.

We probably won’t see Charles Halford as Big John or Charles Esten as Ward Cameron, although you never know! The show had its fair share of fake deaths, right?
However, we surely will be seeing Chase Stokes (John B), Madelyn Cline (Sarah), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Drew Starkey (Rafe), Austin North (Topper), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Carlacia Grant (Cleo), and Nicholas Cirillio (Barry) reprising their roles.
There are a few others we probably will be seeing again, although with less screen time, and of course, we can expect some new exciting characters! Since the show hasn’t started filming yet, the search for these new names is probably ongoing, so stay tuned!
